Mira Benson-Leighs is an early childhood educator with over a decade’s experience in teaching and working with children and infants. A voracious reader, she is continually looking for opportunities to share her passion for books with the very young. She has a wealth of knowledge in the field of Germanic and Scandinavian fairy tales and mythology.

Mads Karlsson is trained at a postgraduate level in both curatorial studies and cultural materials conservation. Having previously worked with the Scottish Children’s Library and Norwegian Book Museum, the collection and curation of children’s books is his key area of expertise.

Dr Samuel Arnold-Wolff completed a bachelor of education in 2001 and after five years of teaching at a primary school level, decided to return to university and complete a master’s degree. After his master’s, he went on to do a PhD with a focus on children’s literature. His favourite children’s authors are the classics: Roald Dahl and Dr Suess.

Tressa Lambert is the newest edition to the Hippo Creek team, having just finished her double degree of creative writing and education. Tressa’s passion is writing, but she gets great fulfilment out of teaching and hopes to one day do both through educational picture books that will be read across the world.
